Using Garzapapel watercolor paper as the ground, I built up visual layers starting with watercolor, then airbrushed acrylic paint and acrylic inks to add abstract design elements. Papers were also added at this point. Identifiable images of figures and astronomical forms were added with airbrush and with embossed papers (Dresden trims). Pencil line work and three-dimensional elements completed the project.
The ultimate goal is to present a feeling of the passage of time through the layering of various abstract and identifiable elements. Symbolic material provides the viewer a vehicle for personal journey. These works are designed to be contemplative tools with each individual adding personal insights and understanding to the encounter.
